Good Day Rajustha2000

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.
I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

Here's the steps you can try.
Click Start, type regedit and run as administartor.
Navigate to this registry path.

-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
-SYSTEM
-CurrentControlSet
-Services
-Csc
-Parameters

Under Parameters Node create a New DWORD 32-bit Value with the Name FormatDatabase and set its Value to 1.

Restart and try to copy the files again.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.
Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

With Warm Regards,
Carlo T.

Hello, I'm Virginia an independent advisor with 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends' PC problems.
Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1903, 1909, 2004 or 20H2 (Oct 2020)?

The file appears to be compressed, have you tried uncompressing the file/s & then trying to move it?

Some further suggestions:

Hello Time Lady,

Thank you for your answers.

Windows 10 build number is 1909. The file was a Microsoft Word (.docx) file, not compressed. The drive is Seagate personal cloud NAS and without any fault. Copying newly created Word files in the same Windows machine works. The issue is only with some of my old files which include Word files, Excel files, and PDF files.

I have tried suggestions mentioned in various answers including editing registry entries and enabling and disabling smb1 features in Windowsfeatures but without success!

I have edited my original post with this additional information.

The screenshot shows a file with two blue arrows - this indicates the file is compressed. Does the original file have this? Can you provide a screenshot?

Here is a screenshot of the few files I tested.

The error occurred while copying the two files Report.docx and Report1.docx ! Report.docx file was an edited copy of Report1.docx. The 'Test file' was created locally for testing purposes and Report1.pdf file was created from Report1.docx and no error while copying these two files.

Report.docx is compressed as it has the blue arrows however the other files aren't so that cannot be the cause.
Are the files already on the backup drive or is it the first time you've moved those files?

Have you scanned for Malware?
Is the file &/or the hard drive encrypted?
Is Windows up to date?
Is there a firmware update for the drive?
Is it possible to connect the drive directly to the PC to see if you can move the files?

Please find the answers to the questions below:

Are the files already on the backup drive or is it the first time you've moved those files? The files were backed up on an external hard disk and trying to copy to another backup drive.

Have you scanned for Malware? Yes
Is the file &/or the hard drive encrypted? No
Is Windows up to date? Yes
Is there a firmware update for the drive? Yes
Is it possible to connect the drive directly to the PC to see if you can move the files? Yes. When I copied files from the first disk to the second many of them successfully copied, but some failed with the error.

Have you downloaded & installed the Firmware update for the drive?
I can only suggest if the update doesn't correct the problem that you open each file add a letter, save it, then remove the letter & save again then move the file, if this works then you'd have to do this with all the affected files. Not ideal I know.
Otherwise I'm out of options.
